    「Dairy of the dead」

    「Dairy of the dead」
    感想は、It was so glosでした。

    US nflation

US Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke has said the inflation outlook for the country is "highly uncertain".

And he said that rising prices, coupled with the effects of the credit crunch, had given the US economy a battering. (引き締め、逼迫)Crungh,Battering(株の暴落)

Mr Bernanke, speaking to a Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank conference in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, said Fed policy makers had to preserve price stability.

US prices rose by 5.6% in the year to July, the fastest inflation rate since 1991, recent figures showed.Preserve(保存する、保護する)

    Inflation watch

Mr Bernanke told delegates at the high-profile economics conference that there had been "some improved functioning in some markets".

However, he said that "the financial storm that reached gale force" around this time last year "has not yet subsided, and its effects on the broader economy are becoming apparent in the form of softening economic activity and rising unemployment".

There were some positives though, as Mr Bernanke pointed out that declines in commodity prices and stability in the dollar were encouraging signs.

The Fed, he said, would monitor the situation closely and "act as necessary" to make sure that inflation did not get out of hand.

Meanwhile, investment guru Warren Buffett said that stocks are "more attractive" than a year ago.

    Regulation

Much of Mr Bernanke's speech addressed the need for the US financial system to be more resilient to future economic shocks.    Resilient(弾力性のある、回復力のある)

He suggested that regulators in future should assess the health of the entire financial system, rather than the condition of individual banks, Wall Street investment firms or other financial companies - as is the case at present.

"Such an approach would appear well justified as our financial system has become less bank-centred," he said.

"Some caution is in order, however, as this more comprehensive approach would be technically demanding and possibly very costly both for the regulators and the firms they supervise," he added.

The statement came amid renewed concerns over the financial health of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which own or back more than half of all US mortgages.

    Inflation surpasses 12% in India.

Inflation has risen above 12% in India despite government efforts to tighten monetary policy.

Annual consumer prices rose by 12.01% in the week ending 26 July, a fresh 13-year high, up from 11.98% the week before - according to official figures.

Successive interest rate rises in recent months have done little to quell inflation, driven higher by escalating food and commodity prices.

Economists warned inflation would rise further before easing next year.    quell(鎮める)

Double-digit(2桁の) inflation poses a threat to India's rapid economic progress with government fuel subsidies(正常に戻る、治まる、通常のレベルよりも落ちる) - designed to cushion people from the impact of rising prices - putting increased pressure on public finances.

Tightening credit in three consecutive quarters have not helped in lowering inflation
Amit Mitra, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry

Inflation was below(以下で) 5% a year ago but many economists believe it will peak at close to 14% later this year.

Three interest rate rises since July - which has pushed borrowing costs up by one and a quarter percentage points - have had little impact.

Critics of government policy say the rate hikes have done nothing to address the source of inflationary pressures and, instead, are threatening companies' growth prospects.

"Tightening credit in three consecutive(連続的な・継続的な) quarters have not helped in lowering inflation," said Amit Mitra, secretary general of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

"If this kind of strict monetary policy is followed further, we are apprehensive," he added.

Although prices are expected to rise further in the short term, India's central bank believes the slowing global economy and the falling oil price will eventually impact on inflation, bringing it down below 10% next spring.

Oil prices slip to seven-week low

Oil prices have tumbled to seven-week lows amid concerns that the slowing US economy will weaken demand.

US sweet, light crude fell $2.23 to settle at $123.26 a barrel - more than $20 off their peak earlier in July, when prices reached a record $147.27.

Brent crude in London also fell, dropping $1.92 to $124.52.

The oil market has been volatile as traders assess whether there will be enough supply to meet demand, with some predicting further price falls.

Analysts at Lehman Brothers predict oil prices could drop below $100 by the end of the first quarter of 2009.

But others are sceptical. (疑問を抱く、懐疑的である)skeptical about(~に疑問を抱く、懐疑的である)

sample; skeptical about the legitimacy of him.(彼の正当性を疑う)

"Nothing in the fundamental drivers has changed," said Harry Tchilinguirian, an oil analyst at BNP Paribas.

    Volatile market

Since last September, traders have been betting that the need for oil from economies, such as China, would continue to power the demand for oil.

Earlier this month, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) upgraded its economic forecasts for these countries.

At the same time, tensions between politically unstable oil-producing nations and the West sparked fears that supply would be constrained.

The weakening US currency has also encouraged investors to switch into commodities, which have been seen as a more attractive investment as the US economy falters.

A slight rebound in the dollar after a smaller-than-expected decline in new housing sales helped to give oil prices some relief, analysts said.

What is the most important to live in foreign countries is to get local information.
Of course, we can use Internet easily and look up it by some books.
But sometimes it's useless and workless.
When I was staying in NZ, we could see Internet cafe aound the city and use it.

    Microsoft walks away from Yahoo

Software giant Microsoft has dropped its three-month-old bid to buy internet firm Yahoo because the two sides cannot agree on an acceptable sale price.

Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer formaly withdrew(手を引く、撤退する、撤収する) the offer in a letter to Yahoo cheif executive Jerry Yang.
Mr, Ballmer said Microsoft had raised its original offer from $44.6bn to $47.5bn-$33 per share.

But he added that Yahoo had insisted on at liast $53bn, or $37 a share - more than Microsoft was prepared to pay.
The software gaint had wanted to do a deal to be able to compete with Google, which dominates the lucrative(金になる、利益の上がる、儲かる) market for internet advertising.

This market was worth $40bn in 2007 and is predicted to double to $80 bn by 2010.
In his letter to Mr Yang which has been posted on the Microsoft website, MrBallmer said ;' We continue to beleive that our proposed acqusition made sense(意味をなす、道理にかなう、当然絵ある) for Microsoft , Yahoo and the market as a whole.

'Dispite our best efforts, including raising our bid by roughly $5bn, Yahoo has not moved toward accepting our offer.
'After careful considerration, we believe the economics demanded by Yahoo do not make sense for us, and it is in the best interests of Microsoft stockholders, employees and other stakeholders to withdraw our proposal.'

Mr Ballmer also told Yahoo's boss that he would not pursue(追いかける、追求する、続ける、達成しようとする) his original plan B of launching a hostile takeover battle, because Mr Yang would 'take steps that would make Yahoo undesirable(好ましくない人、魅力のない、) as an aquuisition for Microsoft.'
Mr Ballmer told his own employees that Microsoft would achieve its goals without Yahoo, albeit at a slower pace.
Yahoo maintain that Microsoft had offered too little to buy the company.
In a statement issued after Microsoft's withdrawal ' Yahoo chairman Roy Bostock dismissed the unsolicited(要求されていない、未承諾の) bid as a 'distaraction'

Microsoft's shares closed on Friday virtually unchanged at $2924. Yahoo's shares were $1.85 higher at $28.67 amid expectations of a higher Microsoft offer.
The BBC's Peter Bowes says analysts believe the breakdown in talks may have an adverse affect on Yahoo shares and generate uncertainty among invertors about the company's management.

    Spam reaches 30-year anniversary

Spam-the sourge of every e-mail inbox - celebrates its 30th anniversary this weekend.

The first recognisable e-mail marketing message was sent on 3 May, 1978 to 400 people on behalf of DEC - a now defunct(機能していない、存在していない)  computer - maker.
The message was sent via Arpanet - the internet's forerunner(先駆者、前兆) - and won its sender much criticism from recipients(受領者)

.Thirty years on, spam has grown into an underground industry that sends out billions of messages every day.
Statistics gathered by the FBI suggest that 75% of net scams snare(捕らえる、人を誘惑してだます) people through junk e-mail . In 2007 these cons(詐欺) netted criminals more than $239m.
Statistics suggest that more than80%-85% of all e-mail is spam or junk and more than 100billion spam messages are sent every day.

The majority of these messages are being sent via hijacked home computers that have been compromised by a computer virus.

    Quick complaint
The sender of the fist junk e-mail message was Gary Thuerk and it was sent to advertise new additions to DEC's family of System - 20 minicomputer.
It invited the recipients , all of whom were on  Arpanet and lived on the west coast of the US, to go to one of two presentations showing off the capabilities of
    the System - 20.

Reaction to the message was swift(敏速な、即座の), with compaints reportedly coming from the US Defense Communications agency, which oversaw Arpanet, and took Mr Thuerk's boss to tas about it.

Despite MrThuerks pioneering spam it took many years for unsolicited(未承諾、) commercial e-mail to became a nuisance(迷惑、不愉快、妨害).
It took until 1993 before it won the name of spam. a name bestowed on it by Joel Furr - an administrator
    on the Usenet chat system.
Mr Furr reputedly got his inspiration for the name from a Monty Python sketch set in a restaurant whose menu heavily featured the processed meat.
The sketch set in a restaurant whose menu heavily featured the processed meat
The sketch ended with everyone in the restaurant , encouraged by a troupe of chanting Vikings, shouting; 'Spam, Spam,Spam,Spam'

April 1994 saw another pioneering moment in the history of spam when imigration lawyers Center
and Siegel sent a commercial spam message to more than 6000 Usenet discussion groups.

The canter and Siegel e-mail is widely sennd as themoment when the commercialisation of the net began and opened the floodgates that led to the deluge of spam
    seen today.

Since those days spam gas grown to be a nuisance and is now used by many hi-tech crime gangs as the vehicle for variety of scams(悪徳商法、詐欺、) and cons.
Spam is burden(負担、荷物、重責) on all of us, said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos,
What's worse is that a lot of spam is deliberately(わざと、故意に、意図的に) malicious(意地の悪い、悪意のある) today, aiming to steal your bank account information or install malware(灰工作ソフト、マルウェア).

    Mivrosoft wieghts option on Yahoo

Microsoft has yet to decide if it will up its $41.8bn(21bn) bid(入札) for Yahoo, go hostile or walk away from the deal. hostile aquisition(敵対的買収)
A meeting of the Microsoft board on Wednesday ended without any decision, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Microsoft had given its rival until 26 April to accept its bid, which Yahoo has said is inadequate.
Buying Yahoo would be the biggest aquistion in Microsoft's history and would give it a ig boost in its battle with market leader Google.

     Options on the table
Microsoft, which is still expected to make an announcement on the deal by the end of this week, has three options.
Steve Ballmer, the software giant's chief executive has threatened to take the bid hostile and nominate directors to replace Yahoo's board.
Alternatively, it could walk away from the deal but hints that this may happen have been dismissed(解任、解雇、解散) by most analysts as negotiating tactics.
Withdrawing(手を引く、身を引く、撤収する、撤退する) the bid could send Yahoo shares lower. The stock has jumped from $19.18 before the bid was announced in February to $27.41.

Microsoft may up(上昇する、上昇させる、) its bid from $31 o $33 per share, but Yahoo might have. They say that while it makes strategic sense, Yahoo comes with a high price tag.
Last week , Mirosoft reported an 11% fall in quarterly profits to $.39bn in the three months to 31 March , from $4.93bn a year earlier. The results were in line with expectations.
Microsofts online services saw a 40% rise in sales to $843m in the quarter, but its online sales still fall far behind Google.

Oil firms Royal Dutuch Shell and BP have made beter-than-expeted first-quater profits thanks to the rising price of oil, which is chose to $120 a barrel.
Shell made profits of $7.8bn in the first thre months of the year, up from &6.9bn a year ago.
And rival BP saw its profits rise 48% to $6.588bn, from $4.4bn.
In January, Anglo-Dutch firm Shell reported annual profits of$27.56bn for 2007, a record for a UK-listed company.
In midday trade in London, shares in both Shell and BP were up by more than .75% and industry peers BG Group and Cairn Energy were also among the top gainers.
    price moves
The quaterly results come amid increasing concern at the cost fo petrol on both sides of the Atlantic.
In the UK, average prices have now reached 109.8p a litre for unleaded petrol, euivalent to 4.99Euro a gallon, accoding to the AA.
In the US, where fuel taxes are lower, the average price is now $3.60 for an American gallon, according to the US Energy Department.
The results also follows a strike by oil workers at the Grangemouth refinery(精製所) in Scotland, which had disrupted(途絶する分裂する) fuel supplies and halted much of the UK's North Sea oil production.
Some petrol stations in Scotland and northern England had introduced rationing(配給、分配、割り当てる制限する) or raised prices.
The price of oil prices has been rising steadily since January, when it broke through the $100-a-barrel mark.
This week the cartel(カルテル) of oil producing nations , Opec , warned that prices would reach $200 a barrel.
On Monday, US light, sweet crude hit a fresh record of $119.93 a barrel, Prices rose as traders eyed the disruption caused by the Grangemouth strike and supply problems in Niggeria following pipeline attacks.
However, the oil price slipped to $11764 a barrel inAsian trade on Tuesday.
    Difficult year
Shell chief executive Jeroen van der Veer said he would continue to grow the firm after a 'good operatiing  performance.'
Shell shares are listed in the UK and the Netherlands , while the company's headquarters are in The Hague.
BP's strong figures come after 12months of turmoil(騒動、混乱、不安、騒ぎ、動揺) for the firm, which announed a fall in 2007's annual profits inFebruary. At the time it slso annouced that it was to cut 5,000 jobs.
Other low points have included receving a $50m fine for the 2005 TaxesCity refinery explosion in which15 people died.
That was part of a larger $373 fine by the US Department of Justice for committing environmental crimes and fraud(詐欺、詐欺師), and included a fine for price manipulation.
And in may last year, thecompanys boss, Lord Browne, resigned after lying to court in an attempt to block stories about his private life.
    Oil scarcity
For a litre of petrol costing 108 pence, approximately 33 pence goes to the oil company, 9pence to the retailer, 50pence fuel duty to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, and 16pence VATto the cancellor.
Simon Wardell, oil analyst at Global Insight , said the raising price of petrol was 'predominantly(大部分は、圧倒的に、主に) down to high oil prices'
'Oil prices are high because of the weak dollar and because reserves are under pressure, there is a slim spare capacity margin-Opec does not have a great deal more oil to pump,' he said.
'That scarcity is reflected in the high oil prices.'
But he said that oil firms could not sit back and just watch the profits flow in.
'Oil firms have to think about the long-term investment, and what prices might be in the future.'
The earnings results come ahead of other earnings data in coming weeks form industry figures including US gants Exxon Mobil and Chevron, UK gas firmBG Group and France's Total.

These information should be processed what you were seeing and reconstracted according to your own thought and way. When overflowing information you got, you may be broken down relevant information into several categories. Also, if you get some new information, you may create some folder in your head. This repeating is the habit to get the essential qualities of information. Always put the customized information with their own way and image it with five senses. Finally, you reconfirm the information and correct it.

Japan is depending on mainly imports from other counties for fuel and raw material.
Appreciation of the yen and crude oil amount lead to stock down and accoding to the above reason,
    Japanese economy is negatively affected.
But why every news are anounced the negative things even if these things are surely ture.

What is the problem is that crude oil exceeded 100 dollars a barrel and appreciation of yen has entered 102.
These matters cause stock down. That is, exceed of crude oil is nagatively affected to small and medium-suzed enterprise which
are depending on it for living.
Seemingly, though it might be corrected if it sees individually respectively, it stands to reasons.
Isn't appreciation of the yen a plus factor the side obviously imported? If crude oil goes up by 5%, and yen went up at the same time by 5%,
too the import price in the yen base is counterbalanced and becomes even.
Both two negative factor always lead to badly Japanese economy. It is wrong to understand at once if it thinks
    calmly.
Of course, these matter are true and everyone needs to accept them, but some solutions are indicated to avoid it from economics person, person related
    to government and critic.
The problem is the first ideal way of the atomosphere of Japan only to such a minus idea including media.
When translating business changes in Japanese, it is wrriten 「景気」
「気」 means including human's vigor and feeling. Continuing minus broadcastings, everyone's feeling may work negatively.
We have to think positively and find some solutions.

    Honne and Tatemae

Living in Japan for a long time, foreign people can feel something strenge when they talk with Japanese.
That is called Honne and Tatemae. There are some reason why they use it even though it sometimes makes troubles.
Japanese people have the way of thinking which is group-oriented and when people speak and talk something, they usually watch other people
because talking different things compeard with others is shameful behaviour and it makes the person isolated.
Accoding to historcal matter, it is related with the policy of prohibiton of Edo which is banned Chiristianity. To enforce them Togugawa
Shogunate created a policy called 「Goningumi」, so people had to watch others behaviour not to be religious.
This matter is just one reason to explain it but it is greatly influenced.
On the other hand, these habit have the aspect of respect and humble. When people usually express thier oponion, firstly they listen
humbly something from speaker. After doing it, they ask some questions and give thier opinion to them.
Thorough the staying in the other countries, I could feel the gap of way of thinking between Japanese and Western people.
In addition, I could find the difference in Asian people and they are quite different even thoough we are very close  when we see from geography.
To sum up, we need to talk with different countries people to reduce the gap of way of thinking.
And it is necessary to think and act standing in other party's standpoint.

    Life of NewZealand

Environment could be decided our distiny, or our will could be decided our future. This sentense is quite useful even though it has been 21century.
I think that NewZealand is one of most confortable and effective place to spend time when we rethink our life and face some difficulties and problems.
Also, there are a lot of beautiful nature and amazing places to visit there.
If you go out the city of Auckland where is the biggest in NZ, you can find something new.
Auckland is called 'Sail of the city' and most people have thier own sailboat.
Kiwi people has good personalities and charactors and they like slow life, so they can afford to have time such as spending with their family and going to a beach to watch sunset.
So, when going to a beach, you can see the people who are enjoying.
I often go to the beach to excerise and I spent some time to talk them. I always recieved a warm welcome.

Having spent my life in NewZealand, I could have found some Japanese who has been stayed there.
I think there is a huge different to live between Japan and NewZealand and they are opposite.
It effects the fundamental way of their life and thought.
I could find like a positive thinking from Kiwi and they can enjoy their life from the bottom of thier heart.
Only making money is just not our llife and sometimes we have to pass the hard way and indirect way.
NewZealand is the place to do it.
